Local & Statewide Government Affairs
Why is Government Affairs Important?
Did you know that the apartment industry contributes $2.5 billion to Mississippi’s economy? Personal engagement between Mississippi Apartment Association (MAA) members and legislators is essential to driving positive change in our industry. The Government Affairs Committee leads grassroots efforts to raise awareness among local leaders about the vital role apartments play in our communities.
MAA also partners with the National Apartment Association to stay informed and active on federal issues such as fair housing and tax reform. From local ordinances to national legislation, policy decisions can significantly impact how property owners and managers deliver safe, affordable housing—and these issues can emerge at any time.
